So iceberg discovered a small lump on the entrance to my private area..

it's not the first time I've noticed this either, no bigger than a cm, but keeps going and coming back again.

I'm too scared to go to the doctor about it, I'm 16.. please help?

Not sure how anyone on these boards could help really. Syphilis produce a 'painless, rubbery bump' called a Chancre on the genitals (sometimes inside too.) But cancer produces lumps too so..... Do you have any other symptoms like fevers, weakness, night sweats? You really need to have the bump seen whilst it is present and observable.

For what it is worth, it is VERY unlikely to be any kind of cancer but that doesn't mean it should be left, especially if it is painful. I am sure with some googling you can find some similar symptoms that someone else has explained. I would think it was far more likely to be some kind of cyst or wart? I am assuming you know where the vagina's normal lumps are and it's not one of those (wouldn't want you mistaking the clitoris for something unwelcome).

No reason to be worried I wouldn't think. If you are then don't be afraid to see your doctor - you can always request a female GP or practice nurse if you are more comfortable with that.

In the meantime, this webpage seems quite useful and may help you or anyone else who stumbles across this question with similar concerns:

Good luck.

Best to get it checked by a medical professional. Very unlikely to be anything bad - might even be a small infected hair follicle or something as simple as a spot ....

As a woman one has to see doctors every so often about gynae issues - you should be able to see a female doc or nurse at your practice and they will be used to seeing all sorts of people ( male and female varieties - so please go and get checked )

You have to let a healthcare professional examine it. It could be something that needs treatment, or it may be something that doesn't, but it's impossible to say without it being seen. You'll only be more scared if you don't go, and keep worrying.
