Will every partner catch chlamydia ?

I have only ever had 2 sexual partners, my first relationship ended 5 years ago. I have been faithful to my current partner. I recently found out I had chlamydia. My current partner does not. I obviously got this from my 1st partner but do not understand how my 2nd has not caught it in the time we have been together. Any help advice ?

Hi Japella

Not all partners of those with an infection will get it. For various reasons, some people are more susceptible to infections than others, although it doesn't mean they will never get something, it just means they didn't after this particular exposure. Regardless, it's important your partner gets treated as a contact of you and that you abstain from sex for a week after treatment, to give the infection time to clear.
