How to get prescription for Valtrex instead of Aciclovir from NHS? herpes type 2

I have been taking Valtrex for my genital herpes (HSV 2) for last 5 years because it works faster for me than Aciclovir, and i do not have upset stomach from taking it. I have done lots of tests in my home country to determine Valtrex is best for me. Then i moved to the UK to study and i found out that it is v difficult to buy it here - my GP showed me a list of NHS recommended medicines and said she can only prescribe Aciclovir but not Valtrex. I have told them i have side effects from Aciclovir. so i keep asking my friends and relatives to bring me Valtrex whenever they visit me here. I'd be more than happy to pay the price difference btw Valtrex and Aciclovir, since i know Valtrex is more expensive. Is there anything i can do??

it also does not help that they actually want to see that i have an outbreak to prescribe me the medicine every time, while i need to take it (ideally) just before an outbreak occurs. When it occured i had to go to a drop-in doctor , because at my GP they told i'd need to wait 2 weeks to get an appointment . I have now moved GP, so it is again the same story.

What can i do to pursuade them to prescribe me Valtrex?? :( thank you.

P.S. can actually somebody recommend a trusted website where i can buy Valtrex manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline without prescription? i noticed there are some. seeing how hard it is to get a prescription by NHS it might be the easiest way.

About 2 weeks ago, I had some blisters pop up. I had done enough research to know it was herpes before the test came back positive. But what makes it worse is the doctor refused to prescribe me valtrex. He gave me 5days worth of acyclovir and said to call anytime I have systomps and they would call me in a refill.

I don't want to sit around and wait for a outbreak. I want to protect myself as much as possible. This is reliable site where I found the valtrex here:

verifiedwebs.net/go/Valtrex and they sent it worldwide

Their customer service was fantastic, price was awesome and I received my order within a few days. I found a coupon code that works "SAVINGS10".

Dear mbregina,

Unfortunately the cost difference (~£2 for aciclovir vs ~£20 for Valtrex) makes it cost prohibitive on the NHS.

Especially given that Valaciclovir turns into aciclovir once it's in the body. The only difference is that you have to take the tablets less often.

I would recommend you visit your local Sexual Health / GUM clinic to discuss your options. If you are getting episodes frequently it may be worth taking something every day to stop it happening. We would also happily give several packs at once to keep in the cupboard to cover future episodes. We would usually like to have a confirmed positive result on the first visit though. For your nearest clinic visit bashh.org/clinics

I am certain as to whether they sell it without a prescription, but pharmacy2u.co.uk and lloydspharmacy.com are both reputable online pharmacists.

Kind regards.

ohh, thank you so much! i was looking at these sites yesterday but was unsure wether pharmacy2u is a reliable one. i've already been to a local SH clinic, but moved to Scotland a few months ago and its a headache getting these repeat prescriptions from a GP here (cos i have to show them my herpes again!)
