Memory
Hi My wife has
AIH
B of the liver and is taking 3mg of corticosteroids per day. We have noticed a decline in memory over the past few years we have visited the doctors no sign of Alzheimer’s or Dementia they say. Just wondering if this is common with the condition or medication. Many thanks

PBC and AIH
Hi, I was diagnosed earlier this year with both PBC and
AIH
from blood tests. I then had a biopsy which confirmed but have been told the PBC is not currently active so only being treated for
AIH
at the moment.

Feeling fed up
Second time seeing specialist and apart from signs in liver biopsy pointing to
AIH
the scans don’t seem to show much. Don’t seem to get told much by Specialist and don’t seem to keep me updated.

Gastro recommended Budesonide steroids incase it was
AIH
overlap for 3 months. Left me on them for 6 months and my face to face apt after 4 yrs ! Kept being cancelled. In November my ALT jumped to 109. Eventually saw him a month ago and ALT was 250 !

Hospitalized December’23 with ALT 2300+ AST 1700+ DX
AIH
. Levels moving in right direction with Imuran and prednisone titrating down 5mg weekly from 60mg. Frustrating though that I don’t know if my actions are directly positively or negatively affecting my symptoms or labs.

Check your Thyroid
So I talked to my consultant at my clinic and said I thought I was having an
AIH
flare up. Took a month of steroids - no change.

AIH and Azathioprine
About to start Aza for
AIH
- I know we're all individuals but anyone here have experience of this drug? Not thrilled about it, especially as steroids seem to be bringing my levels down just fine, but the consultant is a good 'un so I'm trusting I'm going on it for a reason.

Imuran Side Effects
Taking Imuran for about 5 weeks, started been experiencing many of the initial symptoms I felt before diagnosis at about 2 weeks. At first thought treatment not working, but labs still heading towards normal range. Still titrating down on prednisone . Skipped Imuran a couple days and the nausea, fever

Limbo
I was sent to a specialist again and had an ultrasound which didn’t find anything of note, then a biopsy of which the pathologist said the samples were characteristic of
AIH
. Being quite rare especially in men the consultant seemed wary as my ASM was only very slightly elevated.
