Could you try finding some help about the situation through Citizens Advice? citizensadvice.org.uk/ I think they have various pieces of information about Universal Credit, or you could speak to someone at one of their local branches?
Rent all sorted out through universal credit. Used journal to setup meeting in person about tenancy agreement and they verified and accepted!
