Hi, I'm not an expert, just a Mum who has autism in the family. Not my own children, but myself, and my brother and grandson. My daughter has experienced similar issues as you with my grandson as a 5 year old, and found that usually it is just that the school, or maybe just one teacher, is not familiar with autism. The best thing you can do for your little boy is to try to develop a good relationship with his teacher; make an appointment to have a good chat with her/him and explain how autism affects your son. Autism varies according to your place on the spectrum, so your son's teacher will need to know how it affects your son. The more the teacher knows and understands your son's reactions and behaviour the more he/she can help him. Also go to see the head teacher. Contact your education authority to see if your son is able to get help at school if he needs it. First line of "attack" is to get the school on your side and communicate with them to help them understand autism and how it affects your boy. Knowledge is the key to understanding. Good luck!
