To be honest, I have stopped using the phone. I have trouble getting people to understand me. I use the answer phone and try to get people to email me . Bit of a cop out, but it works : )

No, it is hard.

I get my husband or daughter to ring for me but I hate having to keep asking : )

I tend to email people but they too often find typing too hard and result to ringing my mum, is so frustrating when you what to do it alone but others (mostly professionals and receptionists) find it easier to use the phone

Have you had your ears checked, as you may have a bit of a hearing loss? ;o)

Thanks to this site I learn everyday that my problems are other peoples as well. I hear phone messages but my concentration falters and tinnitus doesn't help. E-mails when possible are the solution. Time to read and absorb information and not panic. Replying to messages avoids gaps while searching for the correct words and no self conscious slurring of speech. Asking to use e-mails is the only setback. Ken.

Yes i do try to use emails or txt when I can, but to make appoints etc it would be nice to use the phone instead of relying on husband or mum

Looking on the bright side I'm sure they would like to think they were helping.

I wish that I had that choice. You aren't relying on them but giving something to them. Tell me to shut up. I have been known to put my foot in it !!

My husband has tinnitus. We're forever misunderstanding each other! It often causes

a good laugh. It's maddening when the word you're about to speak, just suddenly flies

out of your head!

Hi Wobblybee my husband also has tinnitus in both ears, what with my slurring speech we have completely different conversations sometimes, it's funny & I often get frustrated (but try not to haha).

Keep smiling

This site is great. I thought I was the only one with telephone hearing difficulties, but no now I know. I tend to use e-mail, facebook etc a lot to communicate with family & friends.
