Yeah, me as well—and I guess we’re all the same. Personally, 1 beer is okay but wine or stronger I only drink at home.

I do feel symptoms are worse than usual after a drink or two. I guess it makes sense, alcohol being a depressant. I find having a sugary drink every so often and some food whilst having a few alcoholic drinks helps.

When you think it affects the cerebellum, that why people who have had a skinful stagger and fall over. So personally I stick to the one beer, or if at a restaurant avoid it completely. I don't want any embarrassing episodes while I'm out. When you realise that alcohol affects the cerebellum, it's a no brainer to avoid.

I remember my physiotherapist saying "with your Ataxia, you are already at risk of falling over, so be careful with alcohol". 😀

Yeh I agree with tallguy I used to enjoy a few Jacks but seeing as it really does effect the cerebellum I had to stop altogether as gravity isn’t a friend of mine at moment and a Jack Daniel’s would certainly affect gravity. But if you can enjoy a drink then enjoy 👍🏻🥴

I hadn't actually thought about it but just realised I have cut down to the occasional glass of red wine. Never sure how it will effect me the next morning not specifically the balance issue at the time of drinking.

I might start drinking pints if it might make me more co-ordination going on holiday next week so might try drinking different drinks to see if they have same affect as wine always scared to drink out of the house in case I seem drunk
