Good morning & a very happy Easter to you all.

Just a quick question, I’m going to Australia at Christmas to visit my son & i’m looking to get some travel insurance for ataxia & do I need to put ALL my illnesses & disability’s? but the ones I’ve seen with various airlines & some others online are extremely expensive, I was just wondering if..,

1. Does mobility or ataxia uk do travel insurance does anybody know please?

2. Does anyone have any other recommendations of travel insurance & prices if possible, that have ataxia & that you yourself have used in the past please?

Many thanks Tracy-(ps I have idiopathic cerebellum ataxia)

I would do a search of insurance companies that cover health issues there are a few and yes put all your health issues and prices do vary due to age and health issues and where you are going as have not been away for a few years due to covid and I usually go to Europe cant help with prices and Ive used different companies so not one comes to mind yet but go and enjoy it Gossy

Hi,Sorry I'm not much help. I am following out of interest because we are hoping to also go to Australia in the summer (our summer) to visit my husband's parents.

Hi, I also have idiopathic C.A, first diagnosed 1999. I am in my 70's and have travelled to Chile on my own on several occasions, the last time being in 2018.

So all pre-Covid. I understand that travel insurance has changed since. The company I dealt with was Stay Sure and I spoke to a real person to make absolutely sure they understood my medical issues. They were extremely helpful and arranged the appropriate travel insurance. All insurance these days is going to be expensive and at the end of the day you get what you pay for. Good luck in finding suitable insurance and have a lovely trip.

Check out whether Australia has a reciprocal health benefit system. 17 years ago they did. Also EHIC
