Parkinsonism or not?

I was diagnosed with SCA over 12 years ago and know that I have SCA 14. After a car accident I started to experience extreme tremors. It took nearly 2 years to find out that I also have Parkinson's disease. Is anyone else out there with Parkinson's and Ataxia? I'm finding that most of my medication now is for PD but not really helping me as it used do. I'd like to know what other medication is on offer - it's been so difficult to contact my consultant for advice. I take 5 x Co-beneldopa a day, a mini tablet in the morning, Ropinirole slow release tablets (used patches but my skin started to break down) and Clonazepam at night. Has anyone tried CBD oil??

I suffer from freezing, not just finding if difficult to take a step but complete freezing. It takes me ages to get my body to move and then crawl to get from a to b. I use a walker (balance completely gone) and can find that one hour I can make a cup of tea then freeze and can't move at all. It's so frustrating.

My symptoms are less extreme than yours, but I can relate to a lot of what you report. I often experience tremors, either during or after exercising, but have always assumed they were a cathartic shaking off the emotional tension held with my body.

I also have a problem with cold, I have all my life. Especially at night. Every year I crave Winter Sun. Lockdown has put paid to that, for now!

I’m always very suspicious of medications, perhaps too suspicious!

Tremors have been progressing from head to upper chest (internally), and sometimes in fingers and vibration like tremors in both hands with pain in both forearms. Tremors in hands come and go over months. Some days upper body shakes a lot, very tiring, and others not as much. I read many ataxias (over 40%) progress to MSA-Cerebellar type. Not sure why that is. Every case seems to be different doesn't it.

I took levodopa for over a year and then it didn't help much and lowered my blood pressure too much so not taking anything now. It's not pleasant but side effects scare me more than anything. I will survive..... with a positive attitude. 😅 or sleep on bad days as a long nap always helps. I'm in BC Canada = snow and winter.
