Let's Get Personally Physical

Hah, I know what you were thinking . . . :D

Anyways, todays tiny bit of information is this study on exercise. The "cliff notes" version is that the researchers feel that if exercise is tailored to individuals then it can have enormous benefit in slowing the decline caused by aging, illness, or even neurodegenerative disorders:

So that't it . . . no excuses now. Go out and get with your doctor and come up with your own personal physical routine!

Can you imagine going to your GP, actually getting an appointment in the first place, and then asking to be assessed for a personal exercise programme 🤣 Not on the NHS 😏 xB

I guess it doesn't matter where you live, it's a fact that "good help is hard to find"! So sad that we have to work so hard as patients to get answers that might actually help us!

Hi Sunvox, thank you for sharing, it seems like you have done much research. My ataxia is not diagnosed, Had a gazillion tests or at least it feels that way, but my symptoms are exactly as you described yours. My GP is always telling me how important it is for me to exercise, and also Dr. Tom Clouse of walkingwithataxia.com. Finally I have started seriously, I have not seen any improvement yet, early days. If nothing else I feel a lot more confident and positive. But I just want to thank you for the final push to make me motivated. Keep sharing your knowledge 😊

Thanks for your research, personally I've found physiotherapist can be really helpful. Especially if they specialise in neurological conditions. They can target specific area's at a pace suited to the individual and it's available on the NHS.

carol ☺
