How to get walking outside of house
See Regaining natural movement, walking with Ataxia by Thomas L Clouse on internet
I have a 4 wheeled walker that is good outside (has bigger wheels). It costs bit more but it does seem good (topro.co.uk). I like it because I move quicker because I feel steadier (made sure you stand well) x
I use a lightweight walker that folds up so I can put it in the car,bus etc. I bought it from Coopers of Stortford online - it costs me about £ 40 . it isnt suitable for rough ground or cobbles but is fine on smooth surfaces, shops, shopping malls etc. I live alone so have to get on with it- my partner of 20 years left me when I was diagnosed but I am fine, good luck- I think it is important to be independent as much as possible. contact your local social services department and ask for a walking aid assessment, theory should assess and provide you with an appropriate aid free of charge, depending whereabouts in the country you are and their equipment provision policy. Good luck
