Good question! Molecular understanding of the processes involved with the fundamental causes of Ataxia, along with familial, etiological studies, may provide better understanding of ways to help those afflicted with Ataxia. In turn, improvements could be made, pharmacologically, perhaps, thereby improving lives of sufferers of Ataxia.

well, diagnosed with Friedreich's, in 1982, and have been waiting since then. In 20 years time, I would hope they can at least halt the progression.

Please write to Whitehouse.gov to expedite FDA process of approving drugs, it take minimum 10 yr to reach phase 3 studies & approve. This process can be achieved faster . As an Ataxian every minute counts for us.

You can also email President , if WH gets 200-300 emails , we might be in spot light.

biohavenpharma.com/biohaven...

"We are acutely aware of the high unmet medical need in SCA, and if the results of the trial are positive, we expect to submit a new drug application to the FDA in early 2018.”

Due to low numbers of Ataxia sufferers there is not enough $$$ in finding cures to make it profitable for any company. Unfortunately for us that is how it works.
