has this happened to anyone else. Last August out of the blue I was admitted through A&E with an acute asthma attack, I'm 57 years of age and have not really been bothered by asthma for 25 years and even when I was younger was never hospitalised. Since August I've been diagnosed with adrenal insufficiency followed by another a&e admission in October with acute asthma and bronchitis and then again on 27th December on each occasion I required intravenous steroids and antibiotics and stays between 9 and 11 days. I'm being referred to a Respiratory specialist and I'm under a Endocrinologist.

Hi , so sorry your asthma has acted up after so many good years. I'm 54 also and although my asthma was never really a problem for years ( just take blue inhaler when I felt chest tightness and off I'd go) lately I've noticed my asthma has changed. Apparently menopause plays a massive role in worsening asthma, and some women who never had asthma developed it as a result of fluctuations in hormones. Something to think about. Take good care.
