If you do a search for Covid and asthma on this site you will find lots of posts to reassure you. People even with severe asthma are no more at risk than anyone else. There were concerns at beginning of Covid about people with asthma but subsequent it has been found people are at no more risk.

Thanks - I will have a good look. I know lots of people who have had Covid but none with underlying issues and with things opening up it seems inevitable that I will get it at some point - but Will try to keep my anxiety under control and Just keep as healthy as I canX

There is no inevitability that you will contract Covid. Lots of people become ill or die from all sorts of reasons. Statistically far more than from Covid and it isn’t inevitable that you will suffer from those…Take sensible precautions and try to keep rational thoughts about it.

Yes I agree and the vast majority of vaccinated people wouldn't even know they had covid if it wasn't tested for, it would be just like another virus. Of course there's always the worry that it might be worse but then that's the same with other illnesses too.

I had Covid last April. I had fever, headache and fatigue for 10 days and a dry cough for six weeks. My asthma wasn't effected, but my pre-existing fatigue has continued and worsened possibly due to Covid. Everyone's experiences will be different. I believe asthmatics are not especially at risk, unlike diabetics and those with dementia.

There are great posts in the archive on this as Bevvy said--they should help give you some peace of mind.

I have severe asthma and had covid last April (2020). I was pretty sick but my lungs were mostly ok--it felt like an asthma flare-up but nothing unmanageable. I had bigger issues with my heart which I hadn't expected. The virus attacked it and I had palpitations and bad chest pain (pericarditis) and a racing pulse for a few months. The other symptoms were intense--a very sore throat, crazy headache, body aches, exhaustion and so on for a few weeks.

Everyone seems to get it so differently. But a lot of research has shown asthmatics aren't at risk as much as doctors had originally feared.

Thanks - doesn’t sound nice at all but interesting that your lungs were not the worse. Hope you are ok now - take careX

One other thought--I was very glad I already had an oxygen monitor at home when I got covid. My doctor had me check my pulse, oxygen, number of breaths per minute, blood pressure, and temperature a few times a day and it gave me a semblance of a feeling of control over things :-) Your oxygen can dip quite low and you can still feel ok so important to keep a close eye on that one. They are inexpensive and you can easily order them online if you don't already have one.

I had covid last year. It is not pleasant. As a result I have breathing problems and have been diagnosed with asthma. I struggled for a year with terrible chest problems but could not get a referral to the chest clinic due to covid. Luckily I have a brilliant gp.
