Try nasal sprays (saline and/or steroids ones). A pharmacist can advise on what's best.

It's not an asthma thing itself but nasal congestion (which can be caused by all sorts of things including viral infections likes colds, hayfever, other allergens) can be a trigger for some people's asthma, though not necessarily for everyone of course. It sounds like a separate issue but can easily be sorted.

I use Sterimar twice weekly ( allergies variety ) which is a diffused Salt Water rinse and often at night one spray of NaturEase nasal spray.Importantly both do not rely on ingredients like medicated nasal sprays that can damage the nasal lining and cause further issue if used continuously - more than a week or so.

So both are potentially something you could safely use regularly (daily)

I find NaturEase really helps at night and allows be to breath through my nose enabling a better night’s sleep.

Hope that helps.

Many asthmatics also have allergic rhinitis - symptoms of nasal and throat congestion, etc. due to allergies of pollen, dust, mould, etc.

My respiratory physio recommended NeilMed Sinus Rinse which helped me. Got it from Amazon.

Hi! I really sympathise. It’s horrible isn’t it? My nose is always partly blocked and worse when I lie down. I have tried saline sinus rinses and steroid nasal spray for over a year with no effect. Also tried Dymista nasal spray and antihistamine tablets which haven’t helped. I have never had hay fever or allergies and only developed asthma last year- aged 60. In hospital the consultant thought chronic sinusitis may have triggered the asthma. But the reason for this long note is that I have finally been referred to ENT - tho the wait will be months and months - So if you have tried various sprays etc, if you are not winning then ENT referral is an possible option. Good luck and I hope you breathe more easily soon.

Naturease is great, hubby uses it daily. If your pharmacy doesn't have it you can buy it on Amazon! My nose doesn't like it, so I'm stuffed up most days. I think this kind of chronic irritation is due to stuff in the air - pollen, pollution, dust, funghi, smoke. You can avoid some of that but the air is getting more and more polluted, at least where we live.
