Hi All,

I've been recording my PF as was advised and to note if its increased after use my inhaler, before I did this with my blue inhaler ventolin, but now I have an ICS - Easyhaler budesonide, do I use this and record PF instead of my blue inhaler now or?

Everything you need to know is in here, a comprehensive post about peak flow:

With your preventer inhaler it won’t be an instant improvement. Track it over time and you should find things increase. PF twice a day (at the same time) either always before or always after your inhaler. And it’ll demonstrate how the inhaler helps (ie in a few weeks your PF should be stable and vent use should have dropped)

As I mentioned in replies to your other post, you need to keep tracking the peak flow ideally every day, twice a day, at the same time each day (eg morning/evening, but at the same time every day). In addition to this, you can *also* check it before and after you take your blue inhaler and record that in addition to the twice daily recordings.

I'm reposting this post about peak flow: healthunlocked.com/asthmauk...

Please also see the links in my reply to your other post about apps/diaries you can use to record peak flow.

Thank you, I just wasn't sure as I don't need the blue inhaler daily sometimes, so when I do not feel that I need it, do I record without inhaler and then with ICS [not blue inhaler] but the Easyhaler Budesonide, that was my meaning... like Emma's mentioned it wouldn't be a great improvement at once like the blue inhaler is! [even though on that I prefer to take one puff only] but still worth recording etc?

Also just had my easyhaler budesonide and feeling tiredness even though slept ok ... is this OK and just carry on with it?

Yes you record every day twice a day whether or not you need the blue inhaler - this is to show the pattern over time. In addition to your daily recordings, you can also record before and after the blue inhaler if and when you need it (you don't need to do this every time, just enough to show it has an effect more than once).

Yes, carry on with the ICS. Tiredness could be all sorts of things (including poorly controlled asthma which ICS can help with) -definitely not a reason to stop taking it!

Thank you, no I know tiredness is not a reason to stop taking it but it was 20-30 min period of being extremely tired! Even after having sleep! So thought it may be a side effects coming on but it's fine just lasted a bit and went so yes will carry on, hopefully will be OK going forward, just wondered if others had experienced it off this med that's all
