Hi,

Does anyone know if it's safe to take co codamol after the covid vaccine? Got my jab last night. Unusually for me, I have side effects. I feel like roadkill! Want to take my painillers as my whole body aches. Co-codamol.30/500.

Thank you

Hi

I don't know about co-codamol but you can have paracetamol. If you rang a pharmacy they should be able to advise you.

Not sure about the AstraZeneca vaccine, but my niece (38) takes co-codamol and had the Pfizer vaccine and had no side effects.

When I had my inoculation was advised that if unwell I should take paracetamol.

I had mine (Astra Zeneca) yesterday evening and have been using paracetamol to help with the side effects.

Hi I am on the same co-codramol strength as you and I kept on with it as normal after having the Astra zeneca jab and I was fine I spoke to my GP before hand and explained that I had a very high daily pain level of 7/10 even with the painkillers and he just told me keep up with my pain treatment and I shouldn't feel the added pain from the jab as only people with low level pain of between 1-3 would feel it I had my jab a week ago and no problems to mention I'm sure if it was an issue my GP would have informed me not to take my normal pain relief but he didn't even with my file infront of him.

My grandma who's 90 is on that cocodamol too, regularly like you, not told to stop before either of her jabs and had no issues at all - although she always denies pain anyway even though she's lived in pain for at least 20 years 🤦‍♀️ so who knows but she didn't seem to notice anything after the vaccines!

I have spinal damage and like your grandmother it's the little things I say that give me away for example if I say I'm ok relax this is me saying that considering everything I have wrong with me yeah I'm actually having an ok day but if I tell you I'm fine umm no I'm not how can I be anything other than ok considering my full issues I just want you off my back but not be rude so I can deal with the issue at hand. My emergency contact knows this and even told off my doctor's because a member of the pharmacy team said I didn't sound in pain I was too cheerful a little quiet but it's noted I'm shy and I have said I'm fine my emergency contact said get to know me as I always say ok never fine I'm only saying that now so I can concentrate on the pain from what my emergency contact told me that pharmacy staff member ended up in tears and asked not to deal with my emergency contact again even though I have insisted that she will be on all future correspondence to help me understand better but to also help them understand how I work.

Hi. I am on pain relief meds but I’d read that if you can possibly avoid taking any meds that reduce the body’s response to the jab it could help it to develop a good immune response so I avoided co codamol, paracetamol and ibuprofen for a couple of days except for night time. But like others here I was told I could take paracetamol if required by the person who administered the vaccine. I just chose to try not to.

Hi,Mezz1, it seems most people have not done too bad from the vaccine. Some people are lucky. I'm now into day 4 from having the Astra zennica. I've had flu symptoms from hot to freezing cold. Feeling sick as a dog ,going dizzy. Have taken paracetamol on Sunday.. Yesterday I felt so rough ,out of breath all the time and so drained. Today a little better but still not much energy out of breath, and feel like my lungs and kidneys have been kicked to hell and back, just like having an asthma attack but without all the wheezing. So it's knocked me for six. NOT looking forward to the 2nd does.
