Anaphylaxis and the covid vaccine

Hi all, hope you are all keeping well and sane!

I've got my covid vaccine on Thursday which I'm so pleased about! I have severe food allergies requiring epipen due to anaphylaxis. I just wondered if anyone on here has had the jab that has severe food allergies?

I know that there were problems with serious reactions to the pfizer jab in December, but I've heard that we shouldn't be concerned about that and just take whichever jab you get offered. I don't want to turn my vaccine down. I am just after some reassurance that they are both safe for me I guess!

I saw a private dr recently about my daughters allergies, he also knows about mine and said make sure you get the oxford vaccine.

Any thoughts? Becky xx

Hi, they should screen you beforehand if it is Pfizer. I was booked in by GP surgery and they asked me about allergies. There is specific ingredients which cause the reaction and from what I recall in the sheet they give none are in food. I’ll try find it when I get home.... could be tomorrow though as I’m on a 12hr shift.

My parents had the Oxford one and both were asked for that too. So hopefully you'll get asked whichever it is

I've just asked a similar question to this so I'm interested in your replies too. Best wishes.

My son was advised to ask for the Astra Zenica one as it’s more like the normal flu jab (by his asthma consultant). He had to ask when he got there as he would have been given Pfizer that day. They had an option for this at the vaccination centre.

Hi, I hope everyone is keeping safe.I was invited for my covid vaccine in February however I am worried about taking it.

Along with asthma and hay fever I have other allergies and my body reacts to almost anything. I bruised easily and my skin is extremely sensitive so I just cannot make up my mine regarding taking this vaccine.

Also has anyone considered what might be the long term effects of taking this vaccine bearing in mind that no one knows how long it protects you from catching covid.

At the moment , I am socially distancing . I hardly go anywhere and so far I have not caught the virus.

Your thoughts will be greatly appreciated.

Have a good day.
