Albuterol important question

Hi all,

Ran out of my preventative inhaler because it's too expensive here in the USA and I haven't been able to get it. Anyway, I've been using my Albuterol nebulizer a couple times every day pretty much, as my asthma is obviously acting up since I don't have my medicine. Anyway, is it okay than I'm doing this every day (as needed) while waiting for my preventative medication? Thanks

It's ok in that it's treating your symptoms but it's potentially dangerous as it's not treating the underlying cause/inflammation of the symptoms (which the preventer inhaler does). So it works like a plaster over a wound.

Will you be waiting long until you can get your regular medication? Is there anyone/anywhere that can help with hardship/affording meds and medical care? (Sorry I don't know much about how it works in the US.... fortunately we don't have that problem here in the UK)

My doctor is prescribing me a cheaper preventative inhaler. Unfortunately here in the USA pharmaceutical companies buying our politicians has prevented us from universal healthcare.

Hopefully you can start that soon and it will be effective for you. 🙂

So sorry for you, a terrible situation to be in where you can't afford basic healthcare. Your situation needs to be put out in this country ( and in the US I guess) so that people understand the importance of free healthcare for all paid for by taxes.

I read yesterday that Amazon are going to start selling pharmaceuticals, up to 80% cheaper than their normal market price. I hope this is something that will prompt improvement to the health care system in the States, which is way too expensive. And I hope that they're going to include asthma meds in the initiative. All the best.
