At this troubled times I feel that the supermarkets are cashing in on people not only with ASTHMA but also other disabilities, which under government regulations mean that we can not go in person due to shielding. Asda are charging a minimum charge of £3.00 and £4.00 if your order does not exceed an minimum charge of £40.00.
I E.Mailed Asda Customer Complaints Department who in an automated reply said that I would have their comments within 48hrs. of my complaint,4 DAYS LATER I still have not had a reply.
Please send your complaints to your local council like I did were the adviser was ashamed at what the super markets are doing and she would forward my comments to her supervisors.
My husband is shielding & he was advised not to go shopping, rather than being told not to go. We go shopping together & find that at 8.00am there are more staff than customers in the shop. We feel safer than when walking round near home. If you are still worried have you tried contacting NHS Volunteer Responders as per your shielding letter?
Last time it was only advice not the law that those shielding should stay at home. Individuals need to decide what works for them.
I agree that supermarkets are cashing in. I haven’t been inside a supermarket since January due to other health issues plus then shielding. Am not in a hurry to return to going inside.
The point I am trying to make is that Super Markets Are cashing in on the people who cant go to the supermarket. Even though we can go to the supermarket in person,I am unable to go as my specialist has told me to stay at home due to my current condition, which are very serious and I am not laying my problems with anyone.
Sorry for the misunderstanding. I found that a lot of food items which I require regularly is available from Iceland who do not only do their own brands but also well known brands and if your order is more than £35.00 delivery is free, and appear to have more slots available
Yes Iceland are better for that- I booked a slot for£1 at my online shop and was flabbergasted to see that next day that all the slots were now £4 at least x
Hi ZiggyM. I bought a saver delivery. You pay a certain amount which covers you for whatever period of time that you choose and you can then order whatever you need. Tesco charge £7.99 per month, but if you don’t use that amount in deliveries then that is returned to you (I hope that makes sense). I know that during this time that paying out more is less than ideal, but it may help in the short term
Morning ZiggyM. Totally understand where you're coming from. Like Jandm I also use delivery saver and have done for years. It certainly makes life easier. Still need to order more than £40 of stuff though.
I have had a prescription delivered from one of the 'big five' supermarkets and did not have to pay for it.But the cost of petrol and wages has to come from somewhere ,staff need paying
I am pleased that in the current climate that you can afford to spend £7.00 for delivery when previously people like myself who are shielding for the second time some are finding it difficult this year to find feed themselves let alone clothes etc. Do not be offended at my comments as everyone has their own opinions
Many supermarkets do click and collect now so you don't even have to go inside. Personally I find the Tesco delivery saver has saved me money as my bus fares cost more.
It is good to know that some people have found their own solutions with this problem
Have you tried Sainsbury’s? They’ve just changed their delivery charges. There are free slots early am & late evening, rest of the time it’s between £1 & £4.50. You do have to spend over £40 but maybe you could order every two weeks.
