Smart peak flow meter (digital)

I was looking at the smart peak flow meter and was wondering if anyone had any experience with it? If they have, would you recommend the investment??

I got one it. It gives a much higher reading than my mini wright one so don’t use it.

I agree with this. It is small and convenient but after a month of analysis it read about 25 units higher. Also I found the app not so good. I use PEF log which shows my variability and a good graph. When I was dropping into amber it was predicting I would be green next time. PEF log also allows you to add symptoms to each result and medication. I wouldn’t buy it again.

As the other replies said mine gave a higher reading nearly 100 higher than my analogue one! So I don't use it.

Hi, I’ve had one since they first came out and have had no issues with it. You need to make sure you are in a place that is well lit when using it, and when you are asked to blow, make sure the fan has stopped after your previous blow. I’ve found it to be as accurate as the wright peak flow meter that we’re prescribed by our GP. I’ve got the bluetooth adapter with mine as it’s easier to use than the wired connection. I like the fact that your readings are recorded on a graph, which you can print for your GP/Hospital team, and you also get warnings when your peak flow drops into amber or red zone. It’s also compact and easy to store/use. It would be useful if you could log your inhalers and neb usage, but I’ve been told that is something they’re working on when I suggested it, they’re also working on a device for inhalers that will count your usage and ensure medication compliance apparently. Personally I’m happy with mine, but there are mixed reviews.

I am also happy with mine. You do need a good light source though. I have found it really useful for keeping on top of trends and analysis.

Also it seemed fairly comparable to my Wright peak flow meter too.

Its a useful aid and easier to transport than my other one, as well as all the other bits I have to carry.
