Sorry another Fostair question!

Hi Everyone

I have been ‘encouraged’ to try a Fostair MDI inhaler instead of my preferred Relvar.

However I am finding that it seems to be causing me a lot of reflux during the night? I have never really suffered with this before and I see that it is quoted as being an uncommon side effect of Fostair.

Does anyone else have similar problems?

I have fostair the pump. I find taking it an hour before bed and a glass of milk helped me while I was getting used to the drug. And never looked back even after about 4 years of using it

Thanks.. that’s very interesting.

So you think the reflux might ‘wear off’ with longer use?

Have to admit I don’t love it as an inhaler but I have to make sure I give it a go... anything to ease the asthma!😫

Though have recently started a biologic and that has been amazing.. 🤞🤞 it remains so.

For me it did but of course everyone is different. Try the pump and ask for an areochamber that might help also. But of course I would speak to the doctors and get them to help

Yes I always use an aerochamber for MDI but this seems like a really odd side effect?? 🤷‍♂️

Anyhow you are right I will speak to cons but am more than happy to go back to Relvar...😊😊

Try fostair as a pump and with an areochamber, if that doesn't work than see if you can go back to what you know that works.

When I first went on Fostair inhaler I thought it gave me back ache but I did have chest infection. I got better I continued as I was told it was the best inhaler as I was getting out of breath and to pursue this bit longer. I started in Feb 2020 but now feel much better with my asthma I do not get out breath this has made huge difference to me . Just try bit longer and if this does not help then definitely go and see your doctor.

Well it’s been about 6weeks now so I’m gonna just revert back to my Relvar. I don’t think Fostair is for me. This is the second time I have tried it and not got on with it so enough is enough!!😫

As I said you might need the pump and and an areochamber as Fostair MD is very hard to use and that's what might causing you the problems. I had Fostair MD and explained to my nurses what was going on and they changed me to fostair pump and areochamber. I have not had one problem since

What kind of Fostair you using? I am on the pump with an areochamber? I have been on it about 4 years and not had 1 attack on it except when we had the unsteady weather other then that I not had 1 attack. I use an areochamber everytime I use my fostair

I have had both the DPI and MDI inhaler ( which I always use with a spacer) and I still am getting the reflux...

So time to knock it on the head I think!!😜

I much prefer the Relvar anyway - but as I said - I was forced into trying the Fostair against my better judgement!!

They only make recommendations for an inhaler that they think will control your asthma better because they are considered that some inhalers can not always control asthma or the body gets to used to them. I know this from a relative who is a retired nurse. She helped me a lot when I first got informed I have asthma

I agree to an extent...however

I think there’s an element of cost involved in inhaler recommendations too!!😜

But maybe I’m just cynical ??!😂

It is not the cost it is if they are available or not as some inhaler's are harder to get then others. I have been informed by there's different combination of fostair so you could find of them work. There is different versions of fostair, that's what I meant. But not everyone is the same
