My Asthma isn't controlled of recent. I am confused

I feel shortness of breath. My seretide and ventolin inhaler aren't suppressing my symptoms as it will on a normal day.

I can't go out as a result of covid 19, does anyone else knows what can suppress it?

I am based in Nigeria

Do you have a peak flow reader to monitor how your asthma is doing? Also could there be something that is triggering your asthma such as allergies or stress? If it could be allergies, then antihistamines may help. If it could be stress (which a lot of us are feeling right now!) are there any relaxation techniques you could use? Of course, if possible you should contact a doctor or asthma nurse. Good luck and hope it gets better soon.

So many of us have been reporting the same in the UK too, so you're not alone! Do you have a spacer to use your inhalers through? These can help ensure your usual inhaler doses are definitely getting to the right place (making your meds more effective and stopping a load of it from getting caught in the back of your thoat/mouth). I totally agree with the idea of the relaxation ideas in case any of it is coming from understandable stress. Also, are you managing to keep moving around OK while in lockdown? I'm usually super active and am sure I feel better on those lockdown days I'm moving a bit more. Not saying you should do a super workout if you're struggling to breathe, but just walking around your home more on a day to day basis, etc. Also totally agree it's still worth speaking with an asthma nurse/doc in case they have any guidance for you right now.

I would speak to your Doctor and tell him your symptoms. He might advise you to increase your Seretide inhaler along with your ventolin inhaler. Hope this helps. Always get advise from your GP.

I posted this yesterday on another forum. I find both helpful.

TheTapping Solutions Meditations app has 21 free guided EFT meditations specific to coronavirus stress and anxiety . EFT is widely used and we’ve found it to be effective. There’s a link to video tutorials to show you how to tap, if you’re new to EFT at the bottom of each meditation. I’ve never found the need to upgrade, as all the coronavirus section is free, as are some of the others. There is a free to download app, or access on the website.

The other app I recommend is the completely free, non profit Australian organisation, Smiling Minds.

smilingmind.com.au/thrive-i...

They have a coronavirus section including ideas and tips. Also accessible from the website or via a free app.

This might sound silly but have you looked into acid reflux. My asthma was playing up few months ago and I went ot the doctor he prescribed prednisolone etc and nothing worked. I'm currently on omeprazole already so didn't really think Gerd. I don't some research and took nexium tablets one in the morning and within 2 days asthma symptoms really improved. I found at night my right side would hurt due to the acid.
