UPDATE - Guidance GP practice

LDloveslattecoffe profile image

So I asked surgery via the eConsult service for clarification on my situation. Reply by Tues at 18:30 is what I was told.

As I was reading the page on GP website at bottom it said Asthma shielding and took me to the following link which is Asthma UK and been updated today.

On my GP website most up to date as dated today

asthma.org.uk/advice/trigge...

Honestly med list is just as confusing as you need to check ingredients if on a combination ie duoresp spiriva.

Best bet send a quick eConsult on surgery website and get GP advice.

*** UPDATE***

My GP just rang and clarified - I am not one of those getting a shielding letter (because not on regular steroid tablets or been admitted to hospital with Asthma),

However as I am on high dose Duoresp Spiriva and Monteleukast Dr. recommended I should be shielding as am at high risk.

I am freelance so work from home so don't need a letter for employer.

Note if you go to GP website they are all with an eConsult service if you need a letter from GP for employer fill in the form and you should get a response in a few days.

The eConsult is national it sends your question/concern to your surgery you get an acknowledgement from surgery saying looking at it and ask you to acknowledge. They say by 6.30pm next day get an answer. If you haven't heard by then there is a link in email says to surgery not heard anything.

Please be patient they will get back to you.

Hope that helps

I haven't received a letter or text .. I take Revlar Ellipta as well as Montelukast and I have been admitted to hospital at least twice...I phoned my GP surgery and all they said was.. it's up to my employer to decide if I should go back to work or not... I asked my employer and they dont know what to do....I have been in self isolation for over 3 weeks now ...I had a virus (not Coronavirus) 3 weeks ago and was told to self isolate as it affected my asthma....so not sure why I haven't gotten a text or letter.

Still waiting to hear back from GP but update on Asthma UK website today - more clarity on medications

Thanks for the link, very helpful update. I’ve e-messaged my GP surgery, yesterday, but no response yet. I’m just getting on with shielding myself, and access to food deliveries and prescription collecting volunteers is improving round here, so I’m becoming less anxious.

On your email there is a link if you have not heard by when they said ie I was supposed to hear by 6.30pm last night but didn't. Pressed link and got the call this morning.
