COVID 19 Sick notes? To work or not?

I have had no text no letter.

I have 1 shot a month (the lowest u can have) Xolair,

Seretide 500 1 am 1 pm,

Spiriva Respimat x2 am,

Alvesco 80 x 2 a day pMDI,

Montelukast pm,

Uniphyllin am and pm,

Bambac pm

Antihistamines

Bricanyl

Totally confused as to what I should be doing. Have'nt been in work over a week.

I am a key worker. Being told conflicting advice saying its my choice if I go to work or not GP receptionist, then that I should stay at home.

But how can I when I can't get a sick note issued and not deemed at risk.

So what am I am suppose to do?

If you have severe asthma (which being on a biologic means you do) you need to shield. I haven’t yet received my texts or letter, however I did get a call from my local hospital. If you aren’t sure call your AN and get it confirmed you should be shielding. Then call your GP and tell them your hospital team say you need to shield so you need a letter. They should listen to your team

Saw a registrar in clinic a bit back who said I needed to isolate so I have since then. But I keep getting told conflicting advice social distancing and self isolation getting stressed with it all.

If you’re severe you are shielding. Which is basically the term used for self isolation when you’re not actually contagious...

Try not to stress too much about all the conflicting advice... most of the terms are new to the docs not just us!

As I said, your best thing to do it call your hosp team, get them to confirm you have to shield them call your GP, tell them and get the needed bits for work. I hope this helps

Hi, I only got a letter today about beingin the high risk group due to my asthma and i think they said they were hoping to get them all out by this sunday. The interesting thing is they are signed by the local gp practice. Which makes sense as they should know who is vulnerable in their own area! I dont have a great relationship with mine, so i was even more surprised to get one lol! It 's not awful as such ,they just don't have a clue about managing my health due to rare conditions so don't treat appropriately, or try to understand mine or daughter 's health, which has led to decline in daughter as she also lools after me till cares can be found which is now dangerous in current situation!

We knew where i lived before i would instantly be classed as vulnerable because of the severity of it, but due to many misteps where i have moved to , this wasn't guaranteed. Fortunately, it has happened but this may be because my care funding has also moved nhs funding.

There is supposed to be a government website where you can register as well i think but i think it keeps crashing.

Get in touch witj your gp surgery and they should send you a letter, if you work at the one you are a patient at that may be why you haven't received a letter because it isn't in their imterests to have you off work!

In that case i would try amd speak to the hoapital so they can talk to your gp and say you can't work.

And gps should know better tham to say its your choice!

The law and government now make it clear it isnt a choice anymore.

That is if you xan get to tslk to anyone, o have been teyomg to get hold of the home vent team amd tehy said someomeome would call me back twice.

My nebuliser isnt working properly and can't get the medication in my lungs in a timely manner! It's manageable for routine nebs just about but have to keep stoppong and starting and readjust everything but bit good for attacks of which there are many when you need it in your system quickly!

Going in hospital is even less of an option now than normal as there is no guarantee, they wil give you care beyond the basics at the moment, especially if you are disabled!

I do think so many more people will fall through the net though, we have been able to get some medication i need, because there is no one to get it for us. I fell out of bed trying to reach something and broke my rib in the process a week ago and havent been able to get the paim relief to !manage it, so moving in bed is a nightmare, it also gsve me a chest infection so no working nebulizer has been lots of fun !!!

Try and keep as healthy as you can and stay safe in what are crazy times, It still seems to me though that the people who are worrying and panicking the most are the healthiest people around!

Thank you.I work in a school as a key worker. We are rotated on. I was actually retired due to asthma, many years ago and then managed to return a long time later.

I use to be on maintenance steroids years ago, but now just have rescue packs probably 5 a year and all the other meds. I have a nebuliser prn as brittle. Also my neb not working ok so everything all at once. I hope you ok and get sorted.

The receptionist wouldn't let me speak to the GP and said it wasn't GP decision so if not at risk then not and said to go to work!!

I said I need a sick note.

Was told by a registrar to self isolate and I said about not being able to work from home so she then said miminal contact with others, but then that's also conflicting advise. So telling me to work!

End of day I work and still need a sick note or letter! I am so distrustful especially when I have been blue lighted due to being given meds I am allergic too.

Definitely shielding. Don't leave home. Sorry it's been stressful and you still don't have the proof. I don't know what the answer is, but shield yourself.
