3 days in prednisone and still struggling

Hi friends I new to your group - I am part of RLS community

I am scared to go to the hospital due to coronavirus risk

I have been quite short of breath since the end of December when I came back from Hawaii to my home in Australia. It is getting much worse .

I have been in 50 mg prednisone for 3 days

4 hourly ventolin , Atrovent , Cbd oil ,

Breo air is my preventative

How long will it take Prendisone to offer any relief ?

What would they do in hospital to help ?

Would buying a nebuliser tomorrow help me ?

I agree. Best to talk to your gp. It depends on the severity of symptoms to how long prednisolone takes for you to feel improvements. I usually notice a difference after 3 days but can take a week or more if my asthmas been particularly bad.

If pred not making a difference by day 4 definitely talk to the doc.

I wouldn't go ahead and buy a nebuliser unless my doc had agreed it as they would be prescribing the nebuled meds that are used in the machine.

You've been bad for quite a while so it may take a while to feel better. It may be worth talking to the doc about antibiotics. I have to be careful when flying long haul as I'm likely to get a low level infection. You may have picked something up on your trip.

As for hospital, different countries have different approaches to emergency treatment of asthma. In the UK you would be assessed and given corticosteroids by IV, if necessary OR you may be nebulised with a reliever. It depends on the severity of the symptoms.
