On 12th March 2020, I received the news the the last bad respiratory infection, in January/February had resulted in the terminal stages of my life. I have had asthma since 1950, in latter years, it became COPD. Now developed into final stages, Lung Fibrosis, a non reversible, progressive, thickening of the lung. Drugs can slow the progression, but not stop. End result is always the same. I've encountered close associations wit the Grim Reaper a few times in the past, now I'll finally meet it. I'm philosophical, about this, but I dont intend to go to final stages of this problem. Current Peak Flow 250, 150 will be my trigger point., between 6 and 18 months.

I am sorry to hear this. I have had asthma all my life too and it's where I myself in 20 year's time. Living with asthma you get used to thinking about death but it's still not something we want. Try to make the most of what time you have. I wish I could give you some better words. Enjoy the sunshine while you can. Listen to the birds sing. Sometimes it's the little things. Sorry to hear your bad news but you are still here now and no one has a crystal ball have they. On the bright side a lovely photo still smiling and you look a picture of health. 😀
That's my positive image. As have been told, more than once by medical people, when having cardiac surgery and cancer surgery, I am very resilient. As we all suffer from terminal existence, and hope end is quick and painless. Unfortunately, not for all.
You first posted a while ago so you still in land of the living thankfully. You like many will be isolating but I do hope not isolated. Keep posting have a good old moan if you want we are here with you and you with us... every step of the way. 😀
I have been near death a number of times. Nearest was having surgery for oesophagel cancer, caused by frequent refluxing. Surgeon told me 30% chance wont make it, my immediate reply was, if I dont have it, 100% wont make it. Operation went well, 10 days in ICU, stable, moved to high dependency ward. Had a relapse, went unconscious. Rushed to theatre, but BP was too low and Heart rate too high to operate. So was moved back to ICU, where came to.
6 weeks later, asked surgeon, how close to Grim Reaper. His reply, very close, only gave you 5% chance of making it
They are often wrong still! I have been asthmatic all my life, NEVER smoked, then radiotherapy for aggressive breast cancer caused lung damage, then came Bronchiectasis and infection which has colonised my lungs. I was given two years with my cancer diagnosis 20 yrs ago! My peak flow is 150-200 and I’m on oxygen most of the time, with advanced COPD, but I’m not accepting what Drs tell me because we are all different, and what they say can be self fulfilling and excruciating depressing. I know of people surviving much longer than their prognosis with , so hopefully you will prove them wrong. Quality of life is important, but thinking of death is essential for our peace of mind! I just want to go quickly with my close family near, no lingering for me I hope! Prayers said and please keep in touch so we can all support each other. 🥰
When I got diagnosed, on 12 March, I just said 'Oh well, I'm philosophical', she said 'Good'. Left surgery, went for Coffee, muffin, and read the paper.
