After going upto the Respiratory dept Wed, I maybe getting an answer as to why I've had this cough this bad for 2.5 yrs, it seems like it's a combination of a lung & heart problem, definitely not asthma
So I'm gonna be given an Steriod Nasal Spray & some tablets for indesgestion despite me saying it ain't nothing to do with that
Nasal spray and antacids are common meds to deal with asthma related cough. Hope you have a follow up appointment to ensure that this med regime is working, if not make an appointment.
But give the meds a good try for three months. I've seen very good results with these meds.
Obviously you will be able to use your follow up appointment if things aren't any better. Keep a diary of symptoms and meds as this may prove helpful in pin pointing any pattern and trigger.

I've been told that it ain't asthma related, possibly lung & heart related, so who knows what will be suggested next! All I do is cough, get out if breath & sometimes dizzy

I’m curious to know what heart problems could be associated with your cough.
I have a leakage, blockage, murmur, fast heart rate, enlarged, fluid round it & now looks like AF, but she just said heart problems, so probably all of them. Has written to Cardiology to see if they can help me, good luck on that!
Hi, I think all hospitals normally have a rapid access chest pain clinic, which are supposed to see you in 2 weeks (although mine takes nearly 4 weeks just due to the volume of patients).
I only know this as I went to A&E last week due to an ongoing pain in my chest and have been referred to the chest pain clinic. Apparently they review you and then if needed you then see a cardiologist.
If you’ve got AF you will probably end up on tablets for life, which is what happened to my brother. I have the opposite which is bradycardia a slow heart rate that drops to 50 beats a minute at worst.

Thanks, Cardiology just don't listen to my husband & I, all they do is say all is fine & see you in 2 yrs time. The ones that knew me for yrs have retired, so there goes knowing how I've been for yrs. It took them 15 mnths to accept that I have a fast heart rate, who knows how long it will take for these new problems!
I'm telling them that I'm having problems & have this cough, but they just don't listen, now it feels like I'm playing the price for it
I think it's time to ask your GP to refer to a centre of excellence for cardiology. You should be able to research online where these centres are, choose one and book appointment with GP.
It's clear from what you have said that you're dissatisfied with your current cardiology team so take back control and assert your right to a second opinion.

It's that the ones who's known me over the yrs are retiring or retired & the new doctors ain't taking the time to get to know me, only seeing what they see @ the time. I dunno if those places are around in the UK, but my husband is backing me up & is gonna make sure that he's heard more now than he's become my carer

Thanks I'll have a look sometime. Don't think the Nasal Spray is working, gonna give it a few more days, then if not getting better, stop it, my cough is getting worse

Hopefully the spray and tablets help to calm your cough (assuming that you have PND/reflux that’s irritating you into coughing). If not at least you can report you’ve tried and it’s done nada (again if you’ve tried it before)
I hope you get a referral and diagnosis quickly from cardiology and that they have something better that will help you.

I've tried those sort of tablets before & nothing has happened, so doubt it's gonna this time, have to wait & see on the spray, but what's PND?
Cardiology down here don't exactly rush & they're not exactly helpful either, so don't really hold my hopes up on that 1
Gotta have a chest xray done so that should show the 2 heart problems that were shown last time
