Asthma Apps

Hi, I was diagnosed with Asthma nearly 2 years ago, and today had my annual review. Very positive on the whole, good control, good inhaler technique and my personal best peak flow has improved.. however she has advised me to be particularly vigilant this hay fever season (my biggest trigger), as I'm on Clenil Modulite and she says I'm on the highest dose (2 puffs twice a day) so she is thinking of swapping it for at least the worst of the hay fever period and wants me to be seen as soon as I start get any signs or symptoms, even very mildly! So I was just wondering if anyone had any experiences of using an app to keep a record of their asthma? I'm thinking of using one to help me keep a record of my peak flow and inhaler usage so that if I was to start to notice any changes I have a record to show my GP or nurse?

Thanks!

Hey!

I’ve been using an app (simply) called “Asthma” for almost 2 years now and I can’t live without it. I record my peak flow readings, each puff of salbutamol and my symptoms. It’s really user friendly and is a huge help when your consultant asks “how much salbutamol have you used in the last 3 months?”- using the app I can give an accurate answer.

There’s also another app that I also can’t live without, it’s called “Pollen.” Once set up, it sends you notifications 12 hours before the pollen count is due to be high or very high. Very, very useful!

Thank you, will look into those! The pollen one definitely sounds like a useful one to have as well x

I've just recently come across one called "findAir- Asthma diary" which looks pretty decent and does pollen as well .

Hi Nicki-Lou

I also use the app called Asthma and find it very useful. You can set a reminder so that everyday you get a nudge to make sure you record your symptoms. As mentioned previously you can add in the amount of reliever puffs you use each day and can even write notes, if you’ve started a dose of antibiotics for example.

I find it all very user friendly.
