Chest issues are really common after GAs regardless of asthma due to the tubes etc and irritation and infection risks. Obviously most people affected manage but in asthma it can cause issues. I was hoping to have a GA for my eye surgery (because eww) but they got the consultant anaesthetist to see me and he's vetoed any GAs unless completely unavoidable because of my asthma.

Hopefully the steroids and antibiotics will sort you out and you'll be ok in a couple of days.

I was meant to have a GA but the surgeon refused because of my asthma he said it was not

the ventilating it was getting the lungs to work after they tried to remove the ventilator.

That was for kidney stone's so it has to be a life threatening injuries before they will even think about it.

I was told this too when I had appendectomy last year as it was an emergency they would give GA but not on any other reason than emergency. I went in for hystescopy, D&C and coil and agreed spinal due to risks of GA but then the anaesthetist decided to go with GA and here I am at home battling not to go into hospital with my asthma x

Good morning . I know it’s very hard to accept when an op

Or procedure is refused or delayed like this. However the alternatives are not an option.. i have asthma and I had a g a for a removal of my gall

Bladder and when I came round had oxygen mask on and drip

And was feeling horrendous. They got this under control

And next day was sent home ... still not great but seemed to b improving . A few hours later I was having severe difficulty breathing and was emergency admitted to hospital with pneumonia !! Obviously I recovered but would NEVER want to repeat anything like that !!! Sorry you feel so bad just now but it will

Happen when you and they are ready . Regards A
