New inhalers

Been in hospital 3 times in the past 3-4mths with breathing difficulties due to my bi-apical severe emphysema and lung bulla. Seen a consultant at the hospital today and he is taking me off of the Elipta Trelegy inhaler and replacing it with the Fostair (green dust cap) to be taken twice a.m and twice p.m, also being put on Spiriva, 2 puffs a.m, and still to take my ventolin as and when required. He said there might also be a element of asthma but wants to see me again in around 8wks for breathing tests. Anyone had any improvement with using this combination of inhalers?

Hi, I have stage 4 emphysema with late onset asthma overlap. I have the fostair 200/6 (green dustcap) and find it helpse a lot. I did have spiriva but found no benefit at all from that and it was changed to braltus 2 months ago which does help. I have ventolin too. I use a spacer with the fostair amd ventolin.

Over the years since I was diagnosed I have had many different inhalers. We all seem to respond differently and I have found it is usually a case of try and see and allow up to a month for a new treatment to have a full effect unless, of course, side effects are a problem.

I hope your new treatment helps you.

Make sure your blood pressure is monitored while you're on Spiriva. Any BP problems I can recommend Eklira Genuair which does the same job without BP side effects.

Hi there,

I use Spiriva, 2 puffs a.m. I use Qvar 50, 2 puffs a.m. and 2 puffs p.m. I also have the blue ventolin as mu emergency inhaler, but have been asked not to use this so often as it affects your heartbeat and is not good for you, although at times I lose my breath almost I have to use it.

I haven't been offered anything else apart from Fostair a few months ago which caused side effects so I left that off.

I have copd with a touch of asthma they think.

Best wishes to you,

Myra
