Will moisturiser help with Seretide bruising

Hi

I know from previous posts that many of you have talked about Seretide and bruising. I’ve got some small green/yellow bruises on my thighs that I’ve got no idea where they have come from! I take Seretide 500 1 puff twice a day and I’ve had 3 courses of Pred since June which I think may have thinned my skin a little. I was prone to bruising before all the increase in meds. My skin has become super sensitive (can’t wear certain fabrics that I used to have no problems with) and dry. I was wondering if anyone has found moisturiser helped. I don’t think it’s anything I need to see GP about (I’ve been there an awful lot recently and don’t want to get a reputation as someone who worries unnecessary and they stop taking my asthma seriously) but I’m very “twitchy” about my health at the moment any small thing seems to be setting off my anxiety! I’m also not sure if this pain here or that pain there is the effects of meds or something I need to bother the doc with.

Thank You

JC x

Hi I suffer with any little knock and get purple bruising on my forearms and lower legs but everywhere else it’s a normal bruise if I knock myself. I too have been onseretide for a few years and also pred I do moisturise everyday as my doctor told me to have lovely soft skin but doesn’t seem to help with less bruising if I knock myself. I use arnica cream and that makes them disappear quicker. I just try hard to be extra careful when I’m doing anything but I must add that I’m a sun lover which doesn’t help with thinning skin that also happens when we age. Hope this helps

Thank You Tunbury41. I think I need to moisturise any way as my skin is really dry this year. I’m feeling tired with all the medication side effects but I know that I would be very ill without the treatment. Asthma is such a horrendous condition on so many levels.

I was on seretide for at least 10 years and I was always wondering where bruises came from, I didn't know about bruising and assumed it was my kids when they were climbing on me .... but I'm off it nearly 18 months, I'm on relvar Elliott now and now that you mention this, I realise I don't have issued with bruising since I stopped seretide.

As a fairly active person I too had the horrible bruising during seretide. I thought I'd just have to get used to it. Mine led to extremely thin skin, the slightest knock and a flap of skin would rip off. Rose thorns, pets jumping up etc. I never went anywhere without Steristrips to stick back the flaps to reduce scars & until they healed. I also took to wearing a double layer of tubigrip on arms for activities. I've so many scars to remind me it wasn't my imagination.

Fast forward to 3 years ago when my preventive was changed to Fostair, it was quite a while before I realised my skin had changed. It has thickened, doesn't rip off anymore and I'm over the moon, I didn't think it was possible.

Hi I'm on seretide 250 x2 twice daily, so the same as you plus asprin 75 mgs daily for another problem. Yes I bruise but don't remember knocking myself etc... I use clarins moisturiser rich body lotion and clarins multi-active for my face it's for 30+ and I was 60 last birthday but it's the only cream I've found helps dry thinned skin. People remark on my skin quite often, that I look well and 10 years younger if only they knew I'm dropping to bits. Lol. I'm not sure if helps bruising or not and won't stop using it just incase. I stay out of sun now too. Clarins may seem a bit pricey but family buy it for Christmas/birthdays and I buy the gift sets after Christmas when half price so don't feel like spending a lot. The sales assistant on clarins in stores will probably give you some samples to try. Hope you find what suits you. I don't like the 50+ or tightening cream just multi-active. I'm very sensitive too.😊
