I was on Symbicort 400/ 2 puffs morning + 2 puffs evening, I have been on this medication for quite some time, but recently I have been coughing more often & producing more clear phlegm,(I also have bronchiectasis) I feel perhaps it is the powder in the symbicort that is making me cough more now,I do not have COPD, doc has now prescribed Trimbow 87/5/9 micrograms inhaler / 4 puffs daily... Has anyone been on this inhaler for asthma? All advice much appreciated.. Thank you..

I don't know anything about Trimbow apart from what's on the web, but I do know that Symbicort made me cough and made my voice hoarse. Asthma is sometimes under the COPD umbrella, so the treatments for one can work for the other. Good luck!

Thank you ChrissieMons for your kind reply, I have decided to give Trimbow a try & see if it eliminates the cough any, as having a constant cough can be quite embarrassing at times, I am still a bit apprehensive about Trimbow as I have never heard of it before, I think in may be a relatively new inhaler...I hope all is good & well with you ChrissieMons,& thanks again for your sound advice. Love & God bless you always...x

Trimbow is a relatively new inhaler. It combines three inhalers in one. I have heard lots of good things about it and it’s something I would really like to try. I’ve had an ever changing combination of inhalers and nothing really works for me. But I don’t know how to go about trying Trimbow (other than asking my doctor?) It’s great that you’ve been given this inhaler. I guess if it doesn’t work for you, you can ask to try something else. I hope it will be helpful for you 🤞

Thank you so much HungryHufflepuff, you have made me feel much better, the reason that I was apprehensive was that I do not have COPD, I have Asthma, & I thought by reading the leaflet that comes with Trimbow that it appeared to be more suitable for COPD patients, do you have asthma or COPD HungryHufflepuff ? I hope all goes well for you & that you do manage to get the correct medication from your doctor.. Thanks again, Hungry Hufflepuff, do take care,& love, & God bless you always...x

Thanks 😊 I have asthma, which I've had all my life, and now "something else going on" I currently have seretide, spiriva and ventolin which don't really seem to be doing much for me. I haven't seen the leaflet for Trimbow but it is being prescribed for asthma and COPD. It's quite new and seems to be causing some confusion among some doctors as to whether it should be prescribed for one or the other or both. There is quite a bit of overlap between asthma and COPD and sometimes asthma is classed as COPD. The difference being obstruction and inflammation (I think?) So it makes sense that inhalers can treat either or both conditions. Good luck to you anyway, I hope it helps you.
