Wheezy after exercise

Hi, I've been diagnosed with exercise induced asthma since April time. I've been on Clenil for months and am now on Symbicort, twice a day, since August. My problem is that when I run/cycle, despite taking the Symbicort, I still find myself breathing very hard when running/struggling to breathe when cycling and I end up really wheezy for hours afterwards. I use the blue inhaler afterwards as before makes no difference but my GP told me that any wheezing after exercise isn't right and needs treating. Does anybody else get this issue after exercise? I don't want to be on steroids if they aren't doing anything but I also want to keep running! Just to add that I don't have day to day asthma, thankfully, just when i exercise, which is 3 times a week. Thanks for any help!

I am on Symbicort and it certainly helps with my asthma, but I still easily get breathless, wheezy and start to cough when I walk especially in this cold weather. In summer it is much better. Cold air is a common trigger for asthma symptoms. Can you run in summer without getting wheezy? Maybe you have more triggers than just exercise? Could you experiment by doing vigorous exercise indoors to see what happens. You may have to adjust your routine a bit, at least for now. Remember you only have one set of lungs and they are worth looking after.
