"Potential annual acquisition cost savings to UK NHS using Soprobec versus Clenil® Modulite® £12-13 million"

Presumably explains the switch, but not much of a saving overall if you then get increased GP and hospital costs due to poor asthma control.

Sjtom1, I don't have personal experience with this but seen quite a few posts about it on here. One size definitely doesn't fit all with asthma medications - Fostair Nexthaler works well for me and Seretide does nothing, but I have seen people saying they were switched from Seretide to Fostair (probably cost reasons again), and noticed a change for the worse. Stick to your guns and tell GP you want to be on something that helps YOU to achieve control so either Clenil or another just as good.

Hi,

I haven't had either of these inhalers but it sounds as if the soprobec doesn't suit you. I have fostair and a couple of years ago a doctor changed it to seretide. Within a week I was much more breathlessness. I asked to go back on fostair and had a noticeable improvement within days.

Please emphasise to your doctor that you are worse since the change.

Yes, I was swapped from clenil modulite to soprobec in March, my doctor told me that due to the coronavirus outbreak a lot of people had been buying up and hoarding clenil modulite so they had ran out. Soprobec is rubbish. It makes me short of breath gives me headaches a sore throat, palpitations, and a cough. I keep asking for clenil modulite but they say it's still unavailable, but I know this is not true because I contacted well pharmacy, they said they have plenty.

Talk to your GP and tell him that your pharmacy now has plenty of clenil modulite so could you please now have a prescription as your asthma is no longer controlled. Good luck.

My inhaler has been changed because my Surgery Pharmacist advised a cheaper option of the "same" medication and it's not working for me. So, this might be a reason that you have been incouraged to keep the cheaper option instead fo swapping back to Clenil.

Yes, I am experiencing the same. Symptoms are getting worse. I find myself coughing way more often (day and night). I have read about the ingredients and could not find a difference but I could not find an aswer why one, that is Soprabec, is less expensive than Clenil. I am awaiting a phone call from the resident pharmacist in my Surgery to talk to, since he's the one who changed the medication because it's cheaper..... Have you mananaged to change back? If so, did you feel the symptoms getting less again?
