So i was told i had asthma nearly 10 yrs ago and this will be only the 2nd time having this test done as i keep going to the docs about my breathing. I do suffer bad anxiety also and have for the last 10 yrs also but my throat always feels tight and sore and recently my tummy feels achy and bloated. I have got a crackly cough thats more in my throat than chest but im on antibiotics anyway and i know i have a lot of mucus stuck in my throat and i have been giving tablets to help thin the mucus. I just want to get answers if my asthma is as bad as i think or is it more anxiety related. Can anyone tell me if mucus sits in the airways?

Hopefully i get answers on wednesday though

Well, if it's any use, mucous definitely gets stuck in the throat, including mine, which is actually quite thin (can't swallow properly sometimes because of it). You might want to look at fionafish's post today on how to clear mucous, though it tends to work best with the thicker stuff.

On the spirometry, the actual procedure is nothing worry about (just a lot of huffing and puffing!). Would be a good idea to let whoever's doing it know what medication you're on, just in case it affects the results. Remember that asthma is reversible so, whatever the result, it should be possible to get the right treatment.

Anxiety plays a huge part in asthma, so while you're waiting for the medics to sort you out, please do take all the help you can get for your anxiety, whether it's talking therapy or any sort of yoga, exercise or whatever helps. Your GP is able to suggest options for you.
