Virus but asthma under control but sore throat for nearly 3 weeks

Asthma, hayfever, Gerd under control with flutiform, bricanyl, fexofenadine, omeprazole, montelukast and beconase, but for past 3 weeks I've had a sore throat lost voice at start of month for day and half, but now lost voice for two days. Been to doctors as consequence of second voice loss, told virus and rest voice. Very difficult to when you answer phones, supervise other staff and are mum of two. Anyone else have issues with sore throats, it's annoying cause everything else under control and this virus has found another weak spot. I've ended up taking annual leave to recover, hate companies sick leave policies.

I had a sore throat and lose of voice early in the year. It does come back and no its hard to rest it as I work with children. Your medication is almost the same as mine minus a different inhaler (fostair for me). Unfortunately for me my Acid reflux isn't under control and not taking any medication for it as I was told not to by consultant as its obviously not working.

I hope and pray you get better soon.

Thanks, it's so annoying and feels so frustrating it's as though if it's not one thing it's another. Although not great it's nice that it's not just me. Did notice a bit of reflux yesterday so I've come off the soluble paracetamol in case it carbonised the water, I have problems with fizzy drinks.

Yes I had issues constantly with voice and / or sore throat. I had broncoscopy and endoscopy, it's stomach acid on my voice box ( showed photos of it) and it them irritated my lungs. Nightshade veg, (potatoes / peppers) and porridge are worst offenders for me. I love porridge but no longer eat it. Maybe once every week I'll have potato but crisps cause prolonged and immediate issue so I no longer eat.

This may be a very obvious question but do you use an inhaler? Do you think your sore throat could be a reaction to the inhaler / oral thrush?

No, went to doctors and she ruled this out. I do rinse after use Inhalers, as know this can be an issue. One of the reasons I went to see doc.

My daughter has had this problem - non-stop sore throat for weeks - and having ruled a lot of things out I feel sure that Clenil has sthg to do with it.

Visits to salt caves - don’t know how widespread these are - were recommended to me by a mother whose child has this same problem. Really have no idea how this might support the lungs / throat, if at all. I went to see a private ENT surgeon for my daughter for her non-stop throat pain. He recommended putting her on a prophylactic course of azithromycin.. pretty drastic and I really don’t know how that would ward off viruses anyway. I have since read a paper about this course of action being a putative “cure for asthma”.

Salt caves, could be the atmosphere. I'm going to keep an eye on it if doesn't shift I'm off to docs. I had an endoscopy recently and everything fine.

I had the exact same problem but it was the flutiform causing my throat problems. I found when my technique wasn’t quite right it would aggravate my throat. Inhaling too quickly was my main problem so I added a spacer. I went back to basics and watched the how to use an inhaler properly video (I didn’t know you were meant to tilt your head up slightly!)

Thanks I did not know that either about tilting head. After resting voice, it is back to full strength. Think is a virus as have been taking fultiform for awhile now and up until start of month no problems.
