5 year old tired all the time, is it linked to his asthma?

Hi

My 5 year old ds has recently been diagnosed with asthma. We have a blue and brown inhaler and his asthma is well controlled his night time cough has stopped and have only needed blue inhaler 2 times in 4 weeks.

However the past 2 weeks, worse this week he keeps saying he's tired. He had a few late nights so put it down to that. But he said yesterday and this morning as soon as he woke up he's really tired. He's getting 10-11 hours sleep. Not waking up at night much at all. And not for any obvious asthma sign. Could this be linked to his asthma? Worth seeing gp or just a random tiredness from school?

Thanks

His peak flow is consistently 160 on average but I'm not sure if it's just his poor technique. He is 5 and gets frustrated.

Flaxseed oil is good for children with asthma just a suggestion you could do your own research into it

I have a 5 year old with severe asthma (daily symptoms, lots of admissions and on lots of medication), he doesn't suffer from tiredness. When he is having a major flare up he tends to go the other way, he gets very hyper at the beginning of a flare up and then tired when he is in the end stages of an attack, through working hard to breathe.

The only time my son has a few days of tiredness is when I think he is going through a growth spurt. These are my own personal experiences and each asthma case is different.

If you are concerned about his tiredness and it is out of character it may be worth a visit to the GP and getting some bloods done.

Is your child using antihistamines ? Drowsiness is a well known side affect with them .

No antihistamines he's given a urine sample and he's having bloods next week. It's just so very unlike him. I mean it could be absolutely nothing. But asthma diagnosis and medication is the only thing that has changed. I don't know if it is linked to that but it's the only thing I could say has changed in his life. Maybe he's slightly anaemic? Or he's fine. Thanks for the responses. It's just so so unlike him. And has been 4 weeks. I thought he maybe really needed half term but it made no difference. Neither does how much exercise he has. He's just tired constantly.
