Travel insurance with Asthma

Has anyone else been quoted crazy prices for traveling with asthma? The only thing that seems to control my asthma is sunshine or at least reasonable weather, insurance companies are looking for over £500 for a two week trip and my asthma is currently under control ish.

I got silly quotes, so went to a broker. I got a great deal. As it was less than £10 more for a year, I took it, and went on several holidays that year. If you look on line, it’s probably going to be more expensive, or nonexistent. Try a broker, ( call them up) you might get a really good deal.

If you search on here there are some good suggestions. I can’t remember them, but others with similar issues have posted a good few times.

You just need to search around. I did a quote where I put all my ailments in & it was coming out over £700, but when I changed how I defined certain things I got it down to £70. Play around a bit with the quotes (& uses places like Money Supermarket) & I'm sure you'll find cheaper deals.

I had some silly quotes too. I have used Fish and am with insureandgo at the moment. I holiday in our winter and go to places like Cuba (I don't go to places like Havanna because of the car exhausts) and I am really well in the heat.

If you feel comfortable that medication will definitely manage your asthma, could you just get 2 weeks travel insurance minus the asthma component?

If you’ve left out mentioning you are being treated for asthma, a claim for another medical problem could be refused. It’s not worth being less than transparent when it comes to travel health insurance.

A slightly more extreme example:

I have been looking for travel insurance. Went on Compare.com, included asthma and osteopenia, and got a very good quote from Puffin insurance.

That is well out of order! When I was asthmatic and suffered AF it was only £25.00 extra Go to insurance companies that deal with people with existing health conditions? Just put this in your search engine "existing health conditions travel insurance "

Be well

Thank you everyone, seems like a lot of searching still to be done, although a drop in temp last night is leaving me a bit breathless, hopefully a holiday in the sun will sort me out.

Again thank you to everyone for the great advice.
