Seretide v Sirdupla

Anyone else having bad reactions to Sirdupla? It's giving me breathing difficulties and a chesty cough.

Checked the ingredients and discovered that the manufacturer has added Ethanol to the Sirdupla. As home made wine gave me my first serious asthma attacks, I am making that link.

Was fine with Seretide and didn't need the Salamol. However since the first puff of Sirdupla, I have been using the Salamol several times a day.

Have asked GP to switch me back to Seretide and have stopped using the Sirdupla. Fingers crossed.

I had chest pain with aloflute which is another uk brand. Now my scripts are written for seretide

I was perfectly fine with Seretide but the Sirdupla made me cough and have chest pains right from the first dose. Despite the GP telling me it was the same, I checked the ingredients. When I discovered the addition of ethanol, I realised why I was having the reactions. After several years of enjoying home made wine, I started to get chest pains and breathlessness after a glass, a few years ago. After an ambulance call out in the middle of the night, I thought I'd better try to find the cause. After extensive research and changing my diet drastically, I eventually found the many, many causes of my asthma and allergies. Not just one thing, but a whole smorgasbord of irritants. Sometimes one thing affected me, then it didn't. Sometimes something unexpected affected me. I'm still finding new things all the time but had it under control until the Sirdupla effect. Perhaps it would be better if the GPs were informed of any ingredient changes and could discuss it with their patients.

Yes I had chest pains constant for the 2 weeks I tried it. I work in pharmacy anyway so realised it had 2 extra ingredients so asked to get my script changed to seretide. I now have both on my repeat slip though so have to check it’s the right one gets printed each time

I only found the one extra ingredient. What was the other one?

Aloflute also has anhydrous

Hi, I had very similar issues when I was switched from Seretide to Sirdupla last year. The asthma nurse also told me there was no difference apart from the cost, (seretide much more expensive) hence why we are all being switched ! I was asked to persevere which I have done for several months and this has worked for me. This is not the case for everyone so only you can judge if your asthma is being managed. Good luck

Hi. The only difference between the two is the addition of ethanol to the Sirdupla. It also felt much more powdery than the Seretide and left a great amount of residue in the spacer. I think if I'd persevered, I would have ended up in A&E. I'm glad it worked for for you but it isn't for me. Here's to a breathe easy life.
