I was newly diagnosed with asthma after a pregnancy. Before the diagnosis I had a battery of tests done. PFT showed significant obstructive airway disease. Stress test showed a normal heart. Holter monitor showed some tachycardia.
The pulmonologist has me on Flovent and I generally don’t need my rescue inhaler more than once or twice a week.
My question: I have chest pain very frequently. Dr said this could be from asthma. Is it? Also, I very very often feel tightness in my chest, almost constantly. Is this normal? Please advise.
Thank you in advance!!

Tightness in chest is normal in Asthma, remember asthma constricts the airways, this is not just lungs it is in the airways that include the ones leading up into your throat.
I'm 48 and I've been getting pain in my chest since I was 15 which is when I think my asthma started (even though wasn't diagnosed till I was 19)
Yes it’s very normal to have a tight chest with asthma, it’s one of the main symptoms. I often find mine gets painful too when I’m bad - I assume it’s because the chest muscles have to work harder when breathing.
How long have you been on the Flovent? It takes a few weeks to kick in properly. If you’re still having a lot of symptoms after being on it for a while you should go back to your doctor as you might need a different or additional medicine.
