I had rapid breathing once when I had it last year as I had a cold and caused my asthma to be upset a bit. It was caused by me not able to catch my breath fullly back. Might strongly recommend that you talk to a doctor.

Unless your doctor or pharmacist gives you different instructions, it's best to take prednisolone as a single dose once a day, straight after breakfast.

Take prednisolone with breakfast so it doesn't upset your stomach.

Taking prednisolone in the morning also means it's less likely to affect your sleep.

I have the same, palpitations, when I take pred and the feeling I've drunk 5 espressos. I set my alarm for 5am, quickly take it & go back to sleep. The worst of the reactions have worn off by night time.

Always read the accompanying leaflet whatever the doc says. P

I was told to take Prednisolone in the morning only.

Directly after breakfast for this very reason.

I have just taken my first dose.

The pharmacist stressed this to me.

Thanks If had them countless times in the past and the docs just said take them all in one dose when ever suits really.

It can happen. You should really take them as soon as you get up as they can interfere with your sleep. Hope this helps x

Today was the last day anyhow. Chest seems to be getting very loose now from being tight last few days wonder if that's a good thing.

No. I have all sorts of irregular heart beats—PACs, PVCs and an episode of afib—but take Prednisone quite safely. It has a lot of side effects, but not that. See your doctor.

Hi I did go to the doctor and was put on a ecg machine which came back normal I lowered my prednisolone dose today to 30mg and the heart palpitations came back after about 4 hours but weren't as bad. The doc said it's the prednisolone giving off a stimulating effect. The heart palpitations only lasted a few hours then go.

Yep prednesolone can cause palpitations, racing heart, (not good long term), & I take it with breakfast / morning.I avoide taking evening/night prednesolone (unless emergency), because my racing heart banging in my ears keeps me awake!
