Well it's happened

Hi all,

My son started with a bad chest about 2 weeks ago and I thought I'd missed. Then about 4 days ago i started with sore chest to the point where I coughed up blood. Went to the docs and was given clarithromycin 50pmg x 2 a day for 7 days. This was Thursday and still not feeling much better. Chest still sore when I cough feel achey all over etc. If asked him about steroids ( which I had bad experiences on last year read older posts) and he said it's ok your not wheezy too much. So go up this morning starting to wheeze a little and though that's it im going on them. Any other doc I see usually says 80mg for 5 days bla bla bla so I do it. My chest feels inflamed as does my airways so I think iv made the right choice. Here goes sleepless nights for the next few days. Usually these antibiotics sort the job quickly but seems to be taking it's time this time around. Thanks and stay well.

All you can do is take meds, plenty of fluids, rest. I started infection 5/12/18 including bringing up blood. Was bacterial so antibiotics and Pred plus 13/12 paramedics nebulised me and 14/12 GP sent me to A&E which is where correct antibiotics decided amoxy-clav. Only started to feel better at week 8 and human by week 10 but still at week 12/13 got to be careful as get exhausted quickly if do too much

80 mg of pred seems a lot , I take 30 or 40mg

My mistake I meant 40mg its 8 tablets I usually take ha
