I have eosinophilic asthma and have put on a lot of weight since I've been on the steroid sprays. Over the last year, I've had a succession of other infections, and have just taken cefalexin for sinusitis. But I am virtually housebound with breathing difficulties. I would so like to drop some weight - it makes life so uncomfortable, above and beyond the difficulties created by not being able to breathe easily. Dieting when you're doing very little - I don't want to starve and in any case, don't think it would be a very healthy thing to do. Anybody in the same place as me? I live on my own and have difficulty doing basic housekeeping - an hour to change the sheets the other day, everything is so hard. Is losing weight just a pipe dream?

Eosinophilic asthma and losing weight
Try a high protein diet so instead of maybe having a sandwich at lunch have a salad , cut sugar out if your diet
I do feel for you, but you don't have to starve - just be more mindful about what you eat. You know all the usual advice about diet. Ask your GP if you are in doubt. See if you can get some help with the housework, which is very hard for people with asthma, and invite friends round, or get someone to collect you and go out. The more you do the more you'll be able to do and being stuck indoors is very depressing. Be as busy as your energy levels allow and try to organise things you can look forward to. Think positive!
Hi. My sister is in the same position as you. She takes steroid spray 2 puffs 4 times a day and also regularly takes steroid tablets so she is piling weight on. She also cannot do much. She knows weight is making her breathing worse but she cannot exercise much due to her asthma. She does not eat much.
