If you look at the patient information sheet in the box it will tell you all you need to know!

Hi & welcome to the forum. Montelukast is a drug that seems to really divide opinion. Some people (including me) have no trouble with it & find it to be a good addition to keep symptoms under control; others detest it & see it as riddled with side-effects. In truth, I think there's an element of truth to both perspectives.

If you look it up, you'll see that dizziness is listed as an 'uncommon' side effect:

bnf.nice.org.uk/drug/montel...

This means that whilst maybe only one in a few thousand have reported dizziness as a side-effect, it's significant enough to be worth mentioning & clearly affects some people.

As you have only recently started taking it, then it might be Montelukast that's your problem, but check out things like your pulse rate, blood pressure & maybe see if your GP can run any blood tests to rule out other possibilities.

Hi Casper_ghost21. I have taken monteleukast for many years.

The patient leaflet that comes with them says under side effects that dizziness is an uncommon side effect.

You can get dizziness if not taking Steroid inhalers properly ie like withdrawal they used to give a Steroid card for certain steroids but monteleukast is not a Steroid it's a leukotrine receptor.

I get dizziness but that's usually related to the ear infections or migraines I get.

So to answer your question it is possible but uncommon. Check out all causes and remember to read the patient information leaflet.

You could ask pharmacist or Dr.

I wouldn’t be without montelukast now. I’ve been taking it for four or five years. It really delays my asthmatic responses to triggers, not altogether, but gives me time to do something about it...like remove myself from the situation.

However, it took me at least six weeks to settle down on it, only persevering because a pharmacist was tracking my progress. Bad dreams and wakefulness were the worst effects, and a general feeling of ‘not being myself’. I don’t remember dizziness. But it’s worth persevering if it’s tolerable to do so.

Dizziness can be caused by forgetting to take certain inhalers properly so make sure you are taking properly (used to get Steroid card for certain inhalers that said don't stop taking suddenly)

Get ears/sinuses checked lot of sinus/ear infections around.

Can be co-incidental started when you on monteleukast.

Alternatively sometimes worth asking chemist could be combination of meds.

But be honest first are you remembering to take inhalers properly and not missing
