I need a bit of help currently I’ve been coughing up green stuff and struggling to breath having to take some deeper breaths. I went for a run earlier today and struggled to catch my breath having to take big breaths hardly getting a lot of oxygen and I don’t know what to do

Where are you at in terms of consulting the medics? The advice from what you say would really be to speak to a doctor & get some tests done (sputum would be a good starting point, to see what you are coughing up & what might treat it). Obviously if you are already somewhere along that road, then there might be other things you need to consider.

Thank you and I have not gone to a Docter and probably won’t

Is there a reason why you won't go? I understand people have various issues with doctors, but it seems as though you are placing yourself at considerable risk if you don't get proper help.

I just don’t like talking to people especially when it’s health related Becasue I feel very anxious

It might be worth your while ringing up a local advocacy service perhaps? Or maybe just ring/speak to the practice manager & explain how you feel. I’m sure they will offer you the help and support you need to get the best treatment. I think the consequences of not doing so could be worse.

You're welcome - I know that anxiety can be really difficult to deal with, & that doctors can be a bit intimidating, but I'm sure the right support can be found (& I'm sure that just explaining to someone at your GP's surgery how you feel will trigger some help).

Don't forget as well (if this helps) you can specifically ask to see a female/male GP, or even ask to see a nurse specialist first who might be able to talk you through things & introduce you to the GP.

Thank you for the help. What would happen if I don’t go to a Docter or get help?

That’s difficult to say as none of us really know what’s going on in your lungs. Obviously one possibility is that you simply recover naturally, but if you have more complex problems then you run the risk that you will continue to get worse. You also don’t want to mess about too much with asthma as a sudden flare-up can be very serious. Why not contact the AsthmaUK nurses first & talk through what your fears are & how you might tackle them?

Hi go and see your doctor as a matter of urgency as it sounds like you have a chest infection and need antibiotics. Coughing up coloured phelgm especially green needs ab's to get rid of it. Don't delay as this can further damage your lungs. x
