I've had well controlled asthma for many years. Was previously taking symbicort inhaler with no problems. I was then changed to duoresp spiromax and didn't think anything of the change until today when the penny dropped. I've spent all night in an austrian hospital whilst on my family holiday. I woke up with extreme palpitations, shortness of breath and rapid heart rate wother tightness across the chest. After the most thorough tests and examinations the only thing the Dr could associate this with was side effects from the inhaler. I then realised that I have had 2 previous similar, yet not as extreme episodes which were diagnosed as possibly arterial flutters and a possible chest infection. The Austrian Dr wanted to prescribe me betablockers but I asked if I could instead ask my GP to change my inhaler back to symbicort and stop the duoresp. He advised to do this. I'm so frustrated that I really thought I was either having a heart attack or had a pulmonary embolism and I kept using my inhaler more due to feeling so breathless. Please just be aware of the side effects of this inhaler. Oh and the last time I collected this inhaler the pharmacist asked me to sign a form saying goes I had experienced no problems with it which I thought strange.
