Hi all, recently I went to the GP with a chest infection and was given clarithromycin 500mg and prednisolone 5mg. They haven’t kicked in yet considering I started them on Thursday.
Recently I have been experiencing sharp pains when inhaling right through to my upper back, does anybody know what this could be? Thank you.

I don't know what is the reason . I do find that I sometimes get pain with an infection/after an exacerbation. However ,if this is not normal for you I would think that going back to your GP would be perfectly reasonable.
I get pains in my back when I breathe in when my asthma is bad. For me, my chest is always clear when the doctor /nurse checks, so it's been put down to pain in the intercostal muscles due to asthma attacks. A hot water bottle eases the pain.
It could be something worse, so I would get your chest listened to by a doctor to check you don't have an infection or other issue.
Hi don’t want to worry you as it may not be the same but I had this symptom I thought it was a pulled muscle it went on for couple days and I ended up in hospital and it was pneumonia, luckily was caught in time and I just had strong antibiotics and steroids. Then the next time I got the pain again the year after I went straight to doctors got the same medication again and the pain eased as soon as they kicked in. Go to the doctors and get it checked out, x hope u feel better soon
The sharp pain is usually muscular try ice/heat (I sometimes find alternating between the two best... ice kills pain instantly and the heat helps the tense muscles loosen)
