I finally had my consultant appointment yesterday. It went well. Very supportive after some poor experiences with my gp i feel like i was taken seriously. Having my inhaler upped so will hopefully get things under control. The only worry i have is that to get by ive been using my blue inhaler about 8 times a day, as directed by gp. I told the consultant the gp hasnt/wont give me an action plan and im in the dark about what to do. She was very shocked. And said if im taking my blue inhaler more than 4 times a day i need to call for help. Im now worrying that will have to happen. I know ive been burying my head in the sand. Its just all a bit scary. I have had an ambulance out a couple of times and been taken to a and e but i was much worse or maybe im getting used to struggling? Sorry for the ramble. On the one hand feeling better about things on the other having a panic! Anyone have any advice/ideas? Thanks

You are welcome to ramble all you like! If I were you, I'd have a chat with the asthmauk nurse. You sound very stresssed and being and feeling in control of your asthma is vital in living well. Relaxing is only possible once you have proper answers to your questions, so talk to an expert. Then you can stop being scared!

My doctors surgery are crap. They have admitted that they do not have a clue how to treat my illness which affects not only my asthma but my sinuses. Now you have a specialist make the most of it. I can phone the clinic if I feel like I am getting worse and they advise me what to do. I have been admitted twice straight from their clinic and they understand that I don't want to be in hospital and that when I ask for help I really need it. Don't hold back on how you feel thinking you will be ok. I learnt that the hard way and ended up in hospital for weeks. I was also using my blue inhaler 8 times a day. I am now on three different ones. You can get ill really quickly so don't feel you are bothering them just let them know how worried you are. Hope this helps xx
